Phases 1, 2 and 3

The first phase developed the methodology used in previous SIA studies to meet the needs of the EMFTA, in consultation with stakeholders. The second phase will scope the potential impacts of the trade agreements, in order to prioritise sectors and areas and types of impacts for more detailed study. The third phase will undertake a series of detailed studies and prepare proposals for mitigating and enhancing flanking measures.

 

Phases 1 and 2 of the study is now complete. The Final Report for Phase 1 was submitted to the European Commission in September 2004. A public meeting to discuss the report was held at the European Commission in Brussels on Wednesday, 24th November 2004. The Baseline Report for Phase 2 was submitted in June 2005; the Scenario Interim Progress Report in August 2005.

The SIA-EMFTA Final Report for Phase 2 is now available in English (revision Mar 2007) Arabic (24 Jan 2007) and French (26 Mar 2007).

Phase 3 is now completed. The consultation draft of the First Report of Phase 3 was submitted to the Commission (Nov 2006).
