aim of the Impact Assessment Research Centre (IARC) is to promote better
understanding of the likely or actual economic, social and environmental
impacts of policy and project interventions, and thereby contribute to
more effective evidence-based decision making. The work of the Centre
is multidisciplinary, and recognises that sustainable development can
only be achieved on the basis of a balanced assessment of the economic,
social and environmental impacts of policies and projects. The IARC focuses
primarily on the needs and experiences of developing countries and countries
in transition.
